Critical reading and evaluation of published professional knowledge

This module aims to challenge assumptions about what research is (or should be) like. To that end, we will work with publications that are presented in formats other than the usual linear structure of a research article; in fact, we will also work with ways of disseminating knowledge that go beyond text. As we do so, we will critically evaluate how useful such ways of producing and sharing professional knowledge are, and we will learn to position ourselves critically as readers (and producers!) of professional knowledge experimenting with alternative modalities. In this module we will also critically reflect on the relative position of western forms of knowledge in language education, and we will work towards raising our awareness of decolonial perspectives in linguistics and education.
